The Line Dance Foundation

Providing much needed support for Line Dancers through the generosity of Line Dancers

  • What is the LDF?

The Line Dance Foundation is the charity specifically set up to help support those who earn their living or part of their living through Line dancing and have fallen on hard times.

  • The inspiration

The LDF was set up in February 2007 shortly after we learned of a Line Dance DJ who had developed throat cancer. He lost his voice and consequently the ability to work and earn a living. We soon discovered that Line Dancing was the only dance form NOT no have its own registered charity. We hoped the Line Dance Foundation would be a stepping stone to establish one and we have always had high hopes for what it can become.

  • Charity status

We are in the final stages of establishing the Foundation as a registered charity here in the UK. In the meantime we continue with the current Board of Honorary Trustees, consisting of Steve Healy, Peter Metelnick, Alison Biggs, Scott Blevins, Glenn Rogers, Cathy Hodgson, Lyndsey Naylor, and founder, Betty Drummond.

  • Trustee Responsibility

The Board of Trustees consider the applications for payments and are delighted that 100% of the nominations received have all been approved so far. Naturally, details are kept confidential. However, beneficiaries are at liberty to disclose information if they choose. No member of the Board of Trustees can become a beneficiary, although beneficiaries can become trustees or ambassadors.

  • Nominations

To make a nomination, just get in touch giving as many details as you can. There is nothing formal about it. The criteria for a beneficiary is simple... anyone who earns their living through Line Dance (no matter how big or how small) who falls on hard times is eligible to apply. Subject to the Board's approval and sufficient funds being available, the LDF is usually only too happy to assist.

  • LDF Ambassadors

There are many people who have become LDF Ambassadors. They help us to raise much needed funds and, without their good works, the LDF could not function. We, and the all beneficiaries appreciate their kindness and hard work. If you would like to become a LDF Ambassador and help us to raise funds please get in touch.

  • How the LDF helps

Funds are limited - but often it is the small things that mean the most. Covering taxi fares for hospital appointments, paying telephone bills so people can stay in touch. What we like to do is make cash donations when the need is greatest. Although it might not be vast sums of money, it does show that dancers are there for each other. The largest single payment we make is 1,000 GBP.

  • And...

The Line Dance Foundation is a company limited by guarantee and registered in England & Wales under registered nº: 09186186 at Clare House, 166 Lord Street, Southport, PR9 0QA, England. All the monies raised for the Line Dance Foundation can be paid into the LDF account as follows:

Bank Name: Barclays Bank plc

Sort code: 20 - 29 - 50

Account Name: Line Dance Foundation

Account nº: 43798968

Our original account was opened in February 2007 with a small payment of 530,30 GBP which was raised at the Crystal Boot Awards event (organised by Linedancer Magazine) in that year.

If you require any further information or have any fundraising suggestions... please don't hesitate to contact us.

In Aid of the LDF...

This year we will be raising money for the Line Dance Foundation - We think it is a wonderful way of helping people in need that love what we love the most: Line Dancing.

Whatever is raised will be good - little or large we will be grateful as it will help to spread the word about the LDF.

So please, read all the information about the Line Dance Foundation and do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions. The Costa Brava Line Dance Festival's team are very happy to help you understand what it is and what it does and very happy to help the LDF!

See you on the dance floor and remember that anything you can do to raise funds is most welcome!
